31st October - Revolve and Emerald Automotive Enter the Future Car Challenge

The EA t-001 arrived safely in London on Saturday morning following its incident-free 63mile drive from Brighton to London in the Future Car Challenge. The EA t-001 was entered in the 'Most Energy Efficient Light Commercial Vehicle (max 3.5 tonnes)' class, and was narrowly beaten by the pure EV - VOCIS Ltd Mercedes-Benz Vito Electric Mini Bus.

Revolve Technologies and Emerald Automotive, joint venture partners on their hybrid electric van concept, are entering the EA t-001 in the 2012 Future Car Challenge. Testing of the low-carbon vehicle has been a major success story throughout the year. IE and Revolve have put the t-001 through its paces, with many months of testing, both on the tracks at Millbrook and on the emissions rollers, where the t-001 has scored some impressive fuel economy numbers.

Revolve and Emerald Automotive hope to show that the t-001’s real-world fuel economy matches up to the testing numbers seen at Millbrook by completing the London to Brighton run this Saturday. Paul Turner, Engineering Director and green energy champion at Revolve said “We are excited to take part in the only event that demonstrates real cars in real conditions and where energy used is measured independently, and that information is made available to the public”.

“Our senior calibration engineer, Charlie Morgan, will be driving – and doing his best to win the light commercial vehicle category. That will be a major boost and vindication of our efforts in this sector to provide green commercial vehicles in partnership with Emerald Automotive”, he continued.
