KurtSystems and Revolve Engineering Built Multiple Horse Training System

“The aim is to make sure horses are strong and healthy before they start their racing life; to build a better foundation for their future.”Mehmet Kurt

Earlier this month saw the global launch of the Kurtsystems at Kingwood Stud in Lambourn, a revolutionary new process designed to aid the pre-training of young racehorses before the enter a traditional training regime.  It introduces young horses to a pre-training programme without the threat of human error in a closely monitored and controlled environment, with a process in contrast to the experiences faced by many young racehorses in the early training.

Essex based engineering company, Revolve Technologies Ltd was first approached by Mr Kurt back in 2008 having previously worked together on a successful project 2 years prior.  Revolve were asked to quote on designing and manufacturing four new two-horse training cabins to be installed at Mr Kurt’s stud farm based in Instanbul, one of which was done so in 2009 following completion.

A change in direction meant the Revolve team were to undergo further modification work to the remaining three cabins and were awarded a second contract for another two units in 2012 after Mr Kurt purchased the Kingwood Stud, Swindon UK, to build his revolutionary multi horse training system.

The new Lambourn system is designed to use five, two horse training cabins attached to each other and powered around a 1.5Km overhead track by a drive unit, which accommodates the operator of the system and up to 5 observers.

The project involved working closely with the main civil engineering contractors and a European company who supplied the drive unit and the overhead rail carriages that the Revolve horse cabins interface with.

Work began on levelling the land at Lambourn for the new system in December 2015, followed by Revolve fitting the first three horse cabin units to the overhead carriages in November 2016, with the remainder being fitted before the end of that year.

The system was successfully demonstrated, complete with horses, to invited guests only, including horse breeders, trainers and respected horse racing experts at the global launch of the Kingwood Stud and KurtSystems training cabins on 10th July 2017, at which Revolve were proud to be present.
