Revolve is currently working as part of a consortium, to develop an integrated system that utilises energy recovered from the vehicle overrun to generate Hydrogen that can be used onboard as an effective emissions control system based on the previous CREO (IDP4) programme findings.
HERCULES (IDP11) is building on the work from CREO (IDP4), which demonstrated good reductions in emissions when used with a special catalyst formulation, and significant fuel savings during DPF regeneration. These features will allow OEM's to optimise the engines for fuel economy rather than emissions.
HERCULES will be highly disruptive to the current emissions control strategies and has the capacity to provide an alternative to current means of NOx control whilst offering much better control of hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and particulates.
More test results on this project are imminent.
